Gigaset C620A Cordless Phone : good enough for me.

My findings and review 18 months on. . After receiving a few nuisance calls i decided to go for one of these phones. Yes you do need to call your provider to enable caller id but a quick tip. My provider virgin media enabled it for free when i told them i was receiving nuisance calls. There are lots of decent features on this phone and nearly 18 months on here is a list of what i like most. Clarity – very clear and no interferenceringtones – set a different ring tone for each handsetfriends & family – assign ring tones for various family memberscall blocking – annoying sales call press a button and add it to your blacklistcall blocking 2 – choose whether to accept withheld numbers, block or send to answerphoneanswerphone – 15 minutes of clear recording capabilitycall list – handset lists all incoming and outgoing callsbattery – as good as day one.

Great phone system with lots of useful features. Easy to set up once you get used to the complicated instructions. I have used this phone system for almost a year and have found it to be an excellent product, but, i think there is a problem with the batteries supplied. I noticed that one of the hand sets was quite warm around the battery compartment i checked the other two and found that these also were quite warm. The batteries once removed were warm to hot to touch. This concerned me because of the possibility of the phones overheating and could catch fire, so i bought duracell pre charged rechargeable aa batteries and replaced all the batteries supplied. I checked all the phones three days after replacing the batteries, the phones now have cool battery compartments.

The negative reviews for this phone were so varied, and many just pathetic that i went ahead and bought one. It is obvious some people don’t bother reading instructions, ok, i don’t always but sometimes it’s needs must. I found the sound quality good and the ring tone loud enough to be heard anywhere in the house. All witheld numbers can be blocked, but there is the possibility they could be important, so i use the silence button. Also unwanted callers can be blocked. It has a few niggley faults, the screen text is a bit small with no option to change, the menu isn’t very user friendly, and i had to resort to instructions to find out how to set speed dials. If you use 1571 you must set to 10 second ring or messages will go to 1571. In the first few days we had 6 missed calls but no messages, we tried 1571 and there they were, an email to customer services soon found a solution. All in all i’m happy with it. Here are the specifications for the Gigaset C620A Cordless Phone:

Having the 3 handsets is brilliant – one upstairs, two downstairs.

  • Great phone system

This phone is great, has many functions, feels good in your hand and it looks very slick.

Like the look and it’s doing well. Like the look and it’s doing well. Must agree with some of the other reviews, the range of ringtones are really poor.

  1. That’s what i thought and hence i hadn’t bought one for years (until my new pup decided to chew mine to bits). Turns out, she did me a favour. Fabulous bit of kit and whilst i thankfully wasn’t so backward that i wasn’t already familiar with the caller display function, i am undeniably delighted with the ability to blacklist all those hateful cold-callers from this phone (highlight of my day now each and every time one of them rings, lol. ) you can also block all withheld numbers (or alternatively divert them automatically to voicemail so you aren’t disturbed but can vet them at a later date. ) i also love the fact that when someone calls, you can automatically push the call to voicemail if you wish, and when people leave a message it is silent (and thus if you have your ringers on silent because you don’t want to be disturbed, you aren’t then instantly disturbed by someone leaving a message which was certainly the case with my last phone. ) lots of other useful functions, plus all the standard things you would expect from a phone e. Selection of ringtones, address book, sms function (there’s even a baby monitor.

Despite a few dodgy default settings (i’m pretty sure i didn’t set the alarm to go off at midnight monday to friday) and some unclear instructions, this seems to be a pretty well-made set of phones, with some useful features. The menus could be a bit more intuitive, but, once you’ve figured them out, they’re ok. Sound quality is good, the handsets and bases look very presentable, and the default display is a useful clock that even those of us with failing eyesight can readlater: i’d like to have anonymous calls sent immediately to answerphone – no ringing, no delay – but i’ve had to conclude it’s not possible. The three options seem to be:- allow anonymous calls through normally. – block them completely, so the caller gets an engaged tone. – ignore them by preventing the phone from ringing, but still display them. The third option seems to be the closest to what i want, but the delay before the answerphone cuts in can’t be set differently for different types of call, so it doesn’t really fit the bill. There can be genuine reasons why people call from withheld numbers (hospitals, etc. ), but they’re unlikely to wait around to be invited to leave a message, especially when i’ve set the delay for normal calls to 18 seconds, to give me a chance to get to the phone.

Good, sound could be improved. Sound is a little tinny/low (even when turned up), otherwise good.

Good reception, better than previous model. Long battery life (aa rechargeables included, compared to aaa cells in cheaper models). Full 1hr message recording requires you to reduce the recording quality.
