My mother extremely deaf and although she could hear the ring, on speaker phone she could not hear the caller if she put the phone down. However we arranged for her hearing aids to be turned up a notch which solved the problem.

Gigaset e500a twin dect phones. These phones are absolutely brilliant they do everything they are claimed to do and are easy to programme and easy to use.

My mother extremely deaf and although she could hear the ring, on speaker phone she could not hear the caller if she put the phone down. However we arranged for her hearing aids to be turned up a notch which solved the problem.

Would recommend this to friends and family. Was a gift for a close friend who finds the keyboard very good with the large buttons.

    A dect phone that actually delivers clear speech. If you’re sick of digital phones that are nothing like as clear as the old analogs used to be, buy this. I can actually hear callers without having to concentrate to decipher their convesation. The answer machine is just as good as the handset. This is the first dect phone i’ve had, and i’ve had a few, that actually delivers clear speech, surely all phones should do that as a minimum or am i just too fussy?easy set-up, the manual seems clear and comprehensive though i haven’t actually read it because the menu on the handset is the usuall menu, up, down, enter, back that eveyone is pretty used to. Can’t think of anything negative, good job gigas.

    1. Was hoping for a louder phone, especially on hands free, but i reckon this is not much louder than the standard siemens dect phone. But it feels solid and well made. The screen fonts are huge and cannot be adjusted even if you turn off jumbo fonts in settings. This means that phone book entries do not fit on one line. You also cannot easily split a name between two lines in the right place. The screen itself is black and white and the text is quite blocky. On a quite expensive phone like this it is hard to understand why siemens could not run to a higher definition colour screen. I bought mine second hand from amazon outlet and they are fine for the price i paid. Not worth full price though.

    Bought these after researching products. Not as good as expected as echo on line. Can’t hear phone in hall when we are in lounge despite volume at highest level but apart from this are ok.

    1. Ok, for older people or infrequent use. Its easy to use but annoying when you try to quickly delete voice mail messages. There is also instant connection when you pick the handset up out of the base so if you didn’t want to answer the call be careful with thisthey seem to hold a long charge and the sounds is decent compared to some other handsets. The range is good, i have never been out of range. The rounded shape is nice and they are light but its an awkward shape to hold between your shoulder and ear, it slips due to round smoothness.

    Tough build, great speaker phone. Bought this one for my parents. Well lit big keys, good speaker phone and 4 stored numbers for quick dial. I had purchased another one earlier as a gift. The toddler at home throws this phone around and even dropped it from a height of two meters on a hard floor a couple of times. It survived with minor scratches. No complaints after one year. It is sad that they stopped making this particular model. A newer one with colour display which i bought for myself is not as good as this one. I drop one star because the clip facility is not switchable between countries.

    Brilliant phone no problems ,good sound clear voice the recorder is good as well it was easy to set up just follow instructions and bobs your uncle.

    1. I am hard of hearing but i don’t have any trouble hearing this very loud phone, even from the garden. I only have the base unit with its one handset and i just carry the handset all over the house with me. It has a handy alarm which i set as a back up for the morning school run, i have to keep it in the bedside locker drawer or it would give me heart failure in the mornings. The quality of the speech is not brilliant but that is probably my appalling hearing. I put it on loudspeaker and turn up my hearing aids and it seems to work best in this way.
