The phone was great but i found it rather ironic that a phone for people with difficulties with vision etc that the instructions were printed in minute letters and had to use a magnifing glass to read them.
This is all i ever need from a phone. I can see clearly the numbers and i can hear it far better than i could a very expensive phone. It seems to me that the suppliers have sorted the problem of the instructions being to small. Mine came with the original instructions which the huble telescope would strugle with, and a lager print version,so i had no problems setting the phone up for my use. For those who need a phone and not a games machine i fully recomend this model.
At last, a reasonably priced large button mobile phone. I purchased this phone for my elderly. Disabled mother and it is ideal. The buttons are very large, and the instructions are easy to read and the seller provided a free sim card as an unexpected gift. Finally the product arrived within 24 hours or ordering even though i only selected standard delivery.
Bought this as an 81st birthday present for my father. He’s pleased with it, so far no problems. My sister, who set it up for him, said that there were no problems setting it up either. One initial thought – the locking button on the side is a good feature from his p.
The phone has some really useful features; voice confirmation of dialled and incoming call numbers (pity it does not specify the caller’s name as per phonebook) led torch, clear easy to read display using big lcd charecters on an orange backlit screen, big keys, sliding keypad lock and vibrate facility. The fm radio is superfluous but it is a phone not an mp3 player, right?. An sos sms text and dialling function for 5 named recipients via a single fast action key, recessed to prevent inadvertant actuation. This phone is evidently either a nokia chassis and components or a very good replication, the charger is a nokia unit and is branded as such. Light and with a modern, ergodynamic design. A very well specified, easy to use and robust phone with some standout features. The instructions are not the best, smallish font and slightly, ‘as translated from mandarin chinese by a website’, yet one does not need to be a genius to work it out. I would conclude this is a genuinely impressive item and my mother loves it.
Reviews from purchasers :
- Great basic phone – not just for oldies!
- Senior Mobile Phone S180
- Good phone, few small problems
The deisgn of this phone is very simple, which works well for my father who is very much not a gadget (smartphone) type. Also he is not very good with english, so it’s nice that there are not too many system messages for him to read. The buttons are very big, and very useful. The sos button is a good feature, since my dad is an oap, it is comforting to know he can press one button and get help right away. The button however is a little to trigger, the 3 seconds it takes to activate the emergency is a little short i think. Phone is trully unlocked so any sim is working, i tried with o2 and vodafone payg sim cards, both worked well. But not tried 3, as they say it won’t work. I have some concerns though. The build quality or materials used as not the strongest around.
Like other reviewers i was unable to read the manufacturer’s guide and the larger print version was a bit more help for me but is still too small for the intended recipient. Access to an electronic version we can print at any size would be really useful. Phone itself is just the job – recessed sos button a vg idea. My order was processed quickly and arrived second day. The postie however had destroyed the first ‘phone i was sent so i ‘phoned for a replacement expecting the usual hassle: far from it. I was told another unit would be sent and i should await the pre-paid return sticker accompanying it. Two days later, all done & dusted.
